Wytham Woods 2020 - 2022

The woods are a constant source of inspiration for me. Over the last three years I have photographed in Wytham Woods, Oxford exploring the subtle changes of light - during the day, at twilight and during the night.

During lockdown I photographed the trees using a 35mm positive slide film and a Hasselblad medium format camera then buried the film beneath the trees. The film was left buried for weeks or months, during which mycelium ate away at parts of the surface distorting the images, which changed in unpredictable ways. The altered surfaces were a document of the time during lockdown and the processes which go on beneath the surface.
